Grant/Planning Specialist

Full Time, 30-40 hours per week
Community Action, Inc is seeking a self-directed individual to fill the position of Grant/Planning Specialist. The Grant/Planning Specialist will serve as the primary grant writer, research potential funding sources, coordinate the grant application process and work with program staff to collect necessary data, interpret data and manage data collection systems. In addition, the Grant/Planning Specialist will work with clients and external stakeholders to gather necessary data through a number of formats in order to measure program effectiveness and agency impact.
The successful candidate will have a degree in nonprofit management, a social science field or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills are required. Full benefit package available.

SUMMARY: Responsible to the Director of Planning and Development for grant writing and other grant related activities for CAI programs. The Grant/Planning Specialist will serve as the primary grant writer, research potential funding sources, coordinate the grant application process and work with program staff to collect necessary data, interpret data and manage data collection systems. In addition, the Grant/Planning Specialist will work with clients and external stakeholders to gather necessary data through a number of formats in order to measure program effectiveness and agency impact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
· Identify and research funding opportunities
· Develop relationships with funding sources
· Work with program staff to develop funding proposals
- Navigate e-funding sites and submit electronic applications
- Identify grant submission requirements and submit applications as the grant instructs
· Work with partner organizations to enhance collaboration
· Orchestrate program data collection and interpretation
· Assist in the facilitation of the CAI Strategic Planning Process
· Coordinate the CAI Community Needs Assessment process
· Serve as staff liaison to the Consumer Advisory Committee Work with staff to develop program work plans and measure program quality/effectiveness
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Provide technical assistance and support to CAI staff, sub grantee and partner agencies
- Attend staff, department, agency and local community meetings as required
- Build and maintain working relationships with other organizations and funding sources within the community on behalf of Community Action.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor degree preferably in the nonprofit management or social science field and 3 years experience in a grant writing capacity. Minimum education may be substituted with 5 years experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Needs some development specific to this position
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret government contracts, regulatory and compliance information.
· Ability to develop and write grants and funding related correspondences.
- Ability to gather and evaluate data and to work cooperatively with program staff to identify and implement solutions;
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
· Knowledge of basic math facts: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, fractions and percentages.
· Ability to translate numbers into required reports.
REASONING ABILITY:
· Ability to interpret a variety of documents and instructions in written, oral or diagram form
· Ability to solve problems requiring decision-making skills where limited standardization exists
· Ability to think creatively.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Access to reliable, licensed,insured driver and transportation.

- Proficient in operation of personal computers (Windows-based Word, Excel, Access)
