Not-for-profit organization seeking candidates for the position of Director of Administration and Finance.   The Director of Administration and Finance is responsible for oversight of human resources, finance, technology and facilities including strategic direction and leadership, oversight of staff, oversight of operations, annual budgets and audit processes, reporting, compliance, accountability and internal controls. Experience with government accounting as well as demonstrated understanding of HR laws are required.  
 
Qualified candidates will be collaborative, have strong analytical and problem solving skills and will have a proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Exceptional communication and influencing skills and a commitment to leading efforts to build a culturally diverse and competent environment required. Bachelor’s in business administration or accounting and at least 5 years management experience required. MBA, MPA or CPA encouraged.

SUMMARY: Responsible to the Executive Director for oversight of human resources, finance, technology and facilities including strategic direction and leadership. Oversight of staff, operations, annual budgets and audit processes, reporting, compliance, accountability and internal controls. The employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative while adhereing to and supporting agency policies and procedures.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following priorities:
 
  • Manage the overall provision of HR services, policies and programs including recruitment, retention and hiring, employee relations, performance management and salary administration, policy development and documentation, employee orientation, benefits administration and ensure agency compliance with all governmental and legal reporting requirements and law
  • Lead HR functions in a manner that supports the development of cultural competence throughout the agency
  • Ensure contract activities are in compliance with legal and government regulations
  • Provide financial direction, leadership and consultation
  • Ensure development and implementation of comprehensive accounting procedures
  • Oversee audit process
  • Ensure development and implementation of comprehensive internal controls across multiple locations and business divisions
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and fiscal accountability
  • Oversee annual budget development process
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Serves as a leader for employees while fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation and open communication
  • Provides direction and support for all staff to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives through the fair and consistent application of policies and procedures
 
NON ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following initial and representative priorities:
  • Attend staff, department, agency and local community meetings as required
  • Build and maintain working relationships with other organizations and funding sources within the community on behalf of Community Action.

SUPERVISION
  • Responsible for supervision of administrative staff.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  
  • MBA, MPA, CPA or equivalent education and experience
  • Not-for-profit and prior public accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience related decision making processes in public and private organizations dealing with poverty, funding resources available for programs to aid low-income individuals.
  • Knowledge of government policies and regulations including EEO/AA, OSHA, FLMA, FLSA, A122, A133
  • Minimum of 7 years management and supervisory experience including supervision of both support and professional level staff
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS: 
·         Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and research information.
·         Exceptional communication and influencing skills and a commitment to leading efforts to build a culturally diverse and competent environment
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 
·         Ability to translate numbers into required reports.
·         The ability to understand budget and comprehensive financial reports.
 
REASONING ABILITY: 
·         Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
·         Ability to solve problems requiring decision-making skills where limited standardization exists
·         Ability to think and problem solve creatively.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
·         Access to reliable, licensed,insured driver and transportation.
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • IT proficiency; Knowledge of MS office suite; prior experience with Great Plains preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records/information.
