A box of kid-friendly foods with bigger and better surprises…art kits, games, activities and more!
Since March, AWARE’s Snackpacker program has delivered boxes of food and fun each week, helping 109 low-income children maintain their nutrition, challenge their minds, and keep physically and emotionally healthy. We doubled the amount of food to fill hungry tummies. Deliveries freed up family incomes for rent, utilities and more as work hours were reduced or even eliminated.
The pandemic has forced AWARE to provide services in new ways and our dedication to local families has never wavered.
In the past year, AWARE also:
- Provided emergency assistance for rent, utilities, car repairs and medications
- Connected families to free Internet services for online learning
- Distributed school supplies, face masks and water bottles for safe return to the classroom
- Awarded Drivers Education Scholarships for safe teen drivers
- Supported struggling children with caring mentors and programming
As the economy continues to falter, many struggling families will reach out for help, some for the very first time.
We anticipate program expenses will rise as the pandemic continues. It has limited our food supply and put restrictions on the types of donations we are allowed to accept and distribute to families.
