Community Action, Inc. enthusiastically announces its new Play It Forward Capital Campaign to benefit Community Kids Learning Center, 2230 Center Avenue, Janesville. The campaign involves a complete renovation of the Community Kids playground, and is being launched with a $100,000 gift from Data Dimensions.

“Many of our employees rely on Community Kids as a safe place for their children while they’re at work,” says Sandy Bennett, Community Development Coordinator for Data Dimensions. “As the only learning center in Janesville available for Data Dimensions’ second and third shift employees, it’s a valuable investment.”

Community Kids operates from 5:00AM-11:30PM with P4J, preschool and kindergarten readiness offered throughout the day. The center serves children from two weeks old to twelve years old. “The Play It Forward Campaign sends a message to children in Janesville that they matter,” says Traci Scherck, director of human relations for Community Action. “It’s a gift to the future of Janesville’s children from the Janesville community led by Data Dimensions.”

Data Dimensions is contributing $100,000 as a challenge to its fellow Janesville community members. Data Dimensions is presenting the first $50,000 installment to Community Kids on December 9. The total project cost is estimated at $200,000. The project timeline will be determined by contributions, with groundbreaking in spring 2015.

The playground design by Angus Young Associates of Janesville features age-appropriate areas for infants, toddlers and older children. It also highlights spaces for art, science, music, gardening, dramatic play and motor skill development. The plan incorporates existing structures and natural space, along with the nature trail adjacent to the current playground. Community Action is hosting an open house from 4:00-5:30PM on Tuesday, January 13 to officially unveil the Play It Forward design plans, give tours of the facility and provide further details on the project with a brief presentation at 5:00PM.
