Registration is filling up fast for the 18th Annual Twin Oaks Golf Outing, a four-person charity scramble benefitting Walworth County’s only 24/7 homeless shelter. The outing is scheduled for June 13 at Abbey Springs Golf Course in Fontana. The scramble is followed by a dinner, program and auction.

The golf outing is the shelter’s largest fundraiser of the year, and provides a portion of the roughly $200,000 in private donations needed to operate the shelter every year. Twin Oaks served 160 homeless people in 2015, about half of whom were children.

Beyond simply a place to stay, Twin Oaks provides a professional case manager who works one-on-one with residents to resolve their crisis, find stable housing and employment. During their stay, residents have use of a community kitchen and food pantry, laundry room, library and outdoor playground for children.

Twin Oaks also offers workshops to build residents’ knowledge and skills in areas such as employment, landlord-tenant relationships, budgeting, alcohol and drug awareness, and mental health issues.

These services are made possible thanks to generous community support. The 18th Annual Twin Oaks Golf Outing is presented by Miniature Precision Components (MPC), First National Bank & Trust, the Lake Geneva Lions Club, Sierra Insurance Marketing, Kunes Country Auto Group, Alder Company, Stinebrink’s Piggly Wiggly, and Margaret Bellock.
