***Important Announcement:
Effective August 24th, 2024, Community Action, Inc. of Rock and Walworth Counties (CAI) will no longer provide after school and summer programming for youth and will no longer provide regular programming for area seniors at the Merrill Community Center located at 1428 Wisconsin Ave, Beloit WI. After assessing services, CAI made the decision to discontinue its youth and senior programs and focus efforts in other areas based on several factors including program availability though community partners. The facility will be utilized by other CAI programs and will continue to support the Merrill Neighborhood and the City of Beloit. Read more here.
Community Action purchased the Merrill Community Center in July, 2017.
After School Adventures provides programming for youth ages 6-13 in the Merrill Neighborhood. The program provides homework assistance, tutoring and character education programming to promote self-esteem, respect for peers and healthy choices.
The Summer Youth Program runs on the same schedule as the School District of Beloit’s summer school program. Our enrichment program focuses on exposure to earth science, the arts, craft projects and exploration of plants and animals native to Wisconsin.
The Senior Program provides fun recreational activities in a safe and accessible environment. Senior citizens can connect with community resources, socialize with their peers and maintain a sense of self-sufficiency. (And there’s bingo, too!)
The NRSA Program: Community Action works with the City of Beloit in the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area. This program helps families in the Hackett and Merrill neighborhoods navigate a variety of community resources. Call (608) 313-1212 for more information.
