Jenny is a single parent with three children who entered Community Action’s Skills Enhancement program in 2014. When she enrolled, Jenny was working 20 hours a week at $9.00 per hour with no health care through her employer. Her goal
was to enter the Pharmacy Technician program and further her career in this high-demand occupation.
Jenny completed the program in August 2014. She then passed the exam for national certification. Community Action’s Skills Enhancement program provided tuition support, payment of the national exam fee and ongoing case management.
She has earned a job in her new field and is making three dollars more per hour than when she enrolled in the program. Jenny has successfully balanced working, going to school and maintaining a household. She is motivated to continue earning more and receiving health benefits through her new job.
