The Weatherization Program

The Weatherization Program installs energy-saving improvements that help to reduce energy bills. The program is open to homeowners, renters, and landlords who rent to income-eligible tenants. Typical Weatherization Program improvements include: air sealing, attic and wall insulation, replacement or repair of heating systems, replacement of older refrigerators, and energy-efficient lighting.

The Program is funded by the Wisconsin Division of Energy, Housing, and Community Resources.

The goal of the weatherization program is to save energy. Priority is given to high energy use homes that are occupied by individuals who are elderly, handicapped, or children less than 6 years of age. Community Action’s Weatherization Program receives a list of eligible applicants from WHEAP and determines the service priority and building eligibility.

Community Action contacts the highest priority households to offer / schedule an energy audit.  The audit determines what weatherization services are the most cost effective and allowed.  The installation of appropriate weatherization measures is coordinated by Community Action and performed by Weatherization Program subcontractors.
