Laura Laux

Laura Laux began her journey with Community Action as an intern in January of 2006 and was hired as a Development Specialist in June of 2006. June 2024 will mark her 18th year with Community Action. Laux graduated UW Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, but was unaware about the direction that would take her. She believes that something brought her to Community Action as there were just too many small happenstances. Laux feels extremely fortunate to have had several opportunities to grow within CAI, starting in development, then moving to direct service as the Twin Oaks Shelter Case Manager, then rental assistance, mortgage foreclosure, homebuyer education, and then in 2014 moving into compliance and later various management roles. Laux now serves as the Deputy Director for Community Action. She says she would not be here without the amazing leadership, past and present, of Community Action and the support of her peers, colleagues, and participants. Laux is a home body but now that her children are getting older, her husband Brent and her are looking forward to planning future family vacations with their children, Oliver and Lilah. On Laux’s remaining free time, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration.
