From a recent Google review:
Community Action’s Project Thrive, a funded program of United Way Blackhawk Region, teaches young people how to literally THRIVE! My son had issues in high school, Beloit Learning Academy, (BLA) and Job Corps. An unexpected turn of events caused him (a single father of two) to lose his job. Community Action staff members had previously helped my son with child support court papers. Staff were so accommodating, welcoming and encouraging when we came to Project Thrive–even offering transportation! My son finished the program and moved from a subpar apartment to renting his first home and better employment.

What is most impressive is that I noticed a confidence in my son that I had never seen before! He is even investigating how to earn his HSED and perhaps beyond.

This may sound like small hurdles to others but for my son it’s a huge accomplishment. We are so grateful for the Community Action staff members for doing the leg work AND heart work necessary to help willing individuals who have different abilities to THRIVE. Thank you so much!
