ROCK COUNTY—Community Action, Inc. of Rock & Walworth Counties (CAI) announces the expansion of its youth health programming. The Adolescent Health Outreach Program (AHOP) will incorporate existing youth services and add new programs.

AHOP includes the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP), which has dramatically increased its outreach over the past three years.

PREP served 131 youth in the 2020-21 school year, 980 youth in 2021-22 and 2,774 youth in 2022-23. PREP is taught in seven Rock County schools, reaching youth in classroom discussions and other events like health fairs.

New this school year, Community Action is partnering with the Wyman Center in St. Louis to deliver the Teen Outreach Program (TOP) to middle school students and eventually provide year-round programming for students. TOP helps improve students’ social-emotional skills, and helps youth develop a positive sense of self, life and leadership skills.

PREP and TOP both provide medically accurate, age-appropriate and up-to-date information to empower youth for a successful transition to adulthood. The programs use evidence-based curricula to lower teens’ risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
