Linda’s husband John was diagnosed with a terminal illness.  Their children were grown but John would no longer be able to work.  Linda’s disability check was not enough to pay for everything.   When bills piled up they turned to AWARE in Evansville for help.  John’s condition continued to decline and he passed away six months later.

Linda picked up a part-time job to supplement her income and managed to get by for a while. Eighteen months later she returned to AWARE and humbly asked for help with her utility bill.  She had been trying to sell her home but was unable to. The following spring she made the sale and returned to AWARE with a check to repay the program for the help she’d received. Asking for help was very difficult for Linda, and she was proud to be able to repay the assistance from AWARE and help another family through a tough time.
